Paris, the city of love, what better way to say I love you, than with a delicate Eiffel Tower box, filled with chocolates and ”Padlocks Of Love” cards? In Paris there is a romantic bridge where people place a padlock on the fence with their initials on it, then throw the key into the river to pledge eternal love. This story is what inspired me to create this fun project. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Instructions

  1. Lay out your SVGCuts files in your software.
  2. Break apart, group and move the Eiffel Tower bottom sections, so you can cut those in a different color paper, from the actual tower (as seen in screen shot) (optional) *Just be careful not to move your score marks along with the bottom sections.
  3. Cut all SVG files
  4. Assemble files as shown in SVGCuts' instructional videos.
  5. Cut and tie twine around your box lids. If you would like, you can add a touch of glue to the twine to keep it in place.
  6. Cut and than tie twine to the key of the small heart shaped lock, then loop the key onto the lock as seen in photos. Hang on to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
  7. Cut and than tie twine to the keys of the large valentine card, heart shaped locks.
  8. Put your cards in the lower box, add chocolates or some other treat to the top box and enjoy!

Design Tips

Fleurette - SVGCuts Design Team Artist

  • Think Paris when selecting your color palette, or go ahead and use exactly what I have put together.
  • Mary’s instructional videos are extremely helpful to assemble the Eiffel tower and other boxes.
  • I used papers that I printed from digital files. I used Echo Park Hybrids “Be Mine”. I have listed the exact papers I used, in the dimensions section of this project.

I really love the story of the Paris padlocks of love and thought it would be fun to create something with that theme in mind. Its simple, sweet and I think this piece makes a great gift. Have fun, open your mind and create.
