Here's what you'll need to make Cider Hill Market, my newest structure, coming Friday! This beauty evokes road trip memories and Autumn roadside market vibes. Ready to start gathering your materials? Besides your cutting machine and favorite glue, you'll need some cardstock and lights.

Cardstock Paper
First, I suggest choosing your patterned paper. That way, you can be sure and coordinate your solid-color paper accordingly. Most fall-themed paper collections will have a pretty similar color palette, but if you want to get technical, choose your patterned paper first.
First of all, you absolutely do not need to use the same patterned paper collection as me. It's gorgeous, but there are SO many choices out there. Maybe you even have something in your personal stash already!
The patterned paper you use can be any weight or thickness. It is used decoratively, not structurally, so it doesn't need to be "heavyweight."
Patterned Cardstock
I'm using the Harvest Collection by Carta Bella Paper Company. It has a beautiful texture to it, as their paper usually does, and the rich colors and designs are TDF. Having the whole collection is of course nice, but here's exactly which papers I'm using:

- a full sheet of anything for the back - I'm using a large-scale floral-on-white pattern here
- a hand-cut 3x4" element as a "sign"
- scraps of up to nine more patterned papers, mostly small-scale, including:
- mauve, maroon and orange calico
- delicate leafy prints in rust, orange, mustard and evergreen
- two plaids
Pro tip: You can use the same patterned paper for multiple shape groupings, so you don't totally "need" nine different patterned papers.
I've linked to the full Harvest collection at 12x12 Cardstock Shop where I like to order my solid-color paper. Code SVGCUTS takes 10% off at their site.
Solid-Color Paper
I'm all about the textured, solid-core, 80# cardstock for my projects. It's the kind of heavyweight paper you can find at Hobby Lobby or by AC Cardstock or Bazzill, but I have a new favorite.

Encore Textured Cardstock from 12x12 Cardstock Shop is fantastic. They ship quick, there's a wide color selection, and it always cuts well on my Cricut Maker. I'm sold! Again, code SVGCUTS takes 10% off at their site.
For Cider Hill Market, you'll need:
- two sheets of a warm medium brown, like Mocha, for the wooden parts and pumpkin stems
- nine sheets of a warm darker brown, like Maple Syrup, for the main structure
- three sheets of dark green, like Hunter Green, for the roof and shutters
- scraps of Vanilla Ice Cream, Winter Wheat, Beehive, Marigold, Butternut, Apricot Jam, Peach Sherbert, Brick, Thyme, and Mint Chocolate Chip
- i.e. ivory, tan, golden yellow, one to three shades of orange, light peachy pink, dusty red, leafy green and light muted teal
There will be a lot of leftovers from the "scraps" colors.
I chose dark green for my roof and shutters because it's a dark color that's featured in the patterned paper I used. If your patterned paper uses a particular dark color, that might be a good choice for your roof and shutters. Dark chocolate brown? Deep navy or even black? So many possibilities, and a good example of why it's best to choose your patterned paper first.
Pro tip: instead of getting slight variations of brown like Mocha and Maple Syrup, you can absolutely just get 11 sheets of brown. For example, at Hobby Lobby. This will work beautifully and is in no way inferior.
Additional Supplies
Specialty Paper
We'll also use a piece of plain letter-sized vellum and a scrap of black shimmer paper. You can substitute black cardstock for the shimmer paper.
LED Fairy Lights
You'll definitely want to light this baby up, and its porch is designed to let some of the light string show. These LED fairy lights that are AC-powered do the job.
Adhesive
Scotch Quick Dry Tacky Glue is my main fave, and it's nice to have the option to add dimension with some adhesive black foam squares or clear 3D dots.
Ink Pad Set
We'll be inking the edges and faces of a lot of shapes for this project, especially with browns, gray, black, green and red. I'll show you how I do this using Color Petal Ink Pads (sets 1004 and 1025).
Embossing
To give Cider Hill Market a worn, rustic feel, I've added a woodgrain texture to its exterior walls. If you've got an embossing machine and any woodgrain embossing folder (or similar), great! I just saw a nice one at Michaels. It's a really nice effect.
I'll also emboss the roof to look like vintage rustic metal by using a striped embossing folder. You could totally change it up, though - anything goes!
I will also be misting some water on my shapes before embossing them. Any little spray bottle ought to work, but I do like the Mini Mister.
Let's Get Crafty for Autumn!!
Cider Hill Market is part of the new Mums on the Porch SVG Kit, dropping August 15th, 2025!
