I'm so excited to show you a sneak peek of my latest project - the Rustic Lantern!
To make it, I used three sheets of 12x12" chocolate brown shimmer card stock paper (Recollections brand) and one piece of plain vellum (about 10 x 5").
I also accented it with some 20 gauge antique-brass-colored wire by Beadalon.
The top slides on like a lid, and it's illuminated from within by this five-inch electric candle lamp.

The finished lantern stands about seven inches tall.
Materials
- Three sheets of 12 x 12" brown card stock paper (about 80 lb. is best) - I used shimmer paper by Recollections (Michaels)
- One 10 x 5" piece of plain vellum
- About 22" of 20 gauge matching wire, such as Antique Brass by Beadalon (actual gauge not very important)
- Five-Inch Rustic Candle Lamp by Creative Hobbies on Amazon (see it on Amazon here)
To make this project, just like all of the others on our website, you'll need a personal electronic cutting machine and software that allows you to cut SVG files, such as:
- the Cricut Explore Air 2 or Cricut Maker machine with the free online Cricut Design Space software
- the Silhouette Cameo machine with the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition software
- the Sizzix eclips2 machine with the eCal software
Can't wait to show you the other coordinating projects that I'm working on!
~Mary 🙂
P.S. The patterned paper that I'm using for some OTHER new projects is the Cowboy Country paper collection by Carta Bella (designed by Steven Duncan). LOVE it!
I have a set of all of the 12x12" sheets to give away, so stay tuned to the SVGCuts Facebook Page for your chance to win!
