I have a DIY project to share with you today! With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, these will be perfect for your party and would make a wonderful gift! I have seen tutorials for these online and most crafters use patterned paper on their tiles. I thought I would try them with SVGs, and they worked perfectly! If you are like me, you may even have a big box of extra tiles stashed away. I made some for my boys’ teachers and they absolutely loved them. Get out those SVGs and a few inexpensive supplies and let’s get crafty!

Instructions
- Grab some tiles. Mine are 4.25” square. Clean with a paper towel or cloth to remove any dust.
- Cut your SVGs and assemble the pieces. I used ink on some of the pieces.
- Take your assembled SVGs and apply a thin coat of Modge Podge with a foam brush to the back. Apply to the center of the tile and carefully smooth out any bumps. Apply a coat of Modge Podge over the entire tile. Let dry for 20 minutes.
- Apply 6 more coats of Modge Podge allowing 20 minutes between coats. Need something to do while you are waiting? – check out the SVG Cuts FB Page or do some shopping in the store! 🙂
- Let tiles cure over night and spray Polyurethane on the tiles. Let dry overnight. This step is optional but recommended if you will be using hot drinks on the coasters. If you decide to skip this step it is recommended to let the coasters cure for 30 days before putting hot drinks on them.
- Cut 4” squares of felt and hot glue them to the backs of the tiles.
- Tie up the coasters with some ribbon. In my case I found some cute St Patty’s Day shoelaces that worked perfect. This will help to retrieve from the box.
- Cut the box files, score and assemble and decorate. Place tiles in box and you are good to go!
Design Tips

- If you don’t care for the background of your tile cover the entire tile with some patterned paper. In my case I liked the background and kept it visible.
- Pick a font that matches the style of your project. For this I used a font called Smaragd – I liked the serif classic style of it.
- When picking papers use the same color palette throughout – when your tiles are all sitting out they will look like similar.
- For the box I like to use hot glue on the tabs, it dries fast, stays put and gives a nice clean finish on the corners.
- I did some machine stitching to the shamrock on my box top to add interest. Also added some BoBunny buttons.
