Thanksgiving Crafts

Can you taste it? Turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and that yummy stuffing! We've got some festive paper crafts to help you greet and seat your family and friends this Thanksgiving! Make one or make them all!

Thanksgiving Card

We've showcased our vintage Mom silhouette for Thanksgiving on this chic card.  Fresh out of the kitchen with a steaming crispy turkey!  This was inspired by a couple of gourmet Moms we know and we're sure they'll get a kick out of it.

Dimensions

We created this as an A6 sized card, but you could certainly adapt it to any size.  Here are the exact shapes, sizes and colors we used for each element.

Scalloped Shapes SVG Collection
S.svg 4"w x 5.7"h Light Pattern
Sframe.svg 4"w x 5.7"h Dark Brown

Design Tips

  • We used AC Cardstock (Dark Brown and Maroon) and DCWV Indian Summer patterned paper.
  • We embossed the card base with our Cuttlebug (the Paisley design) and inked the edges with a dark brown ink pad.

Place Cards

Dimensions

The finished placecards measure four inches wide and each little element accenting the top is about one to 1.25" wide. Here are the exact shapes, sizes and colors that we used.

Design Tips

  • We embossed the rectangles using our Cuttlebug and rubbed a reddish brown ink pad around the edges and onto the embossed surface too. This added SUCH a nice touch - we'll be playing with this technique more often!
  • We also inked the edges of the placecards with a brown ink pad.
  • For the guests' names, we used a very common font called Brush Script MT Italic or Brush Script Std Medium.

Paper Suggestions

We used both DCWV Indian Summer stacks (both the lighter weight paper and the heavier weight cardstock) and AC Cardstock.

Dimensions

The finished project measures eight inches wide, so it's pretty cute and adorable! Here are the exact shapes, sizes and colors that we used.

Native American Woman 2"w (Keep Proportions) Cut all pieces
Pilgrim Man 2.92"w (Keep Proportions) Cut all pieces
Pilgrim Woman 2.9"w (Keep Proportions) Cut all pieces

Design Tips

  • First we glued the top and bottom parts of the pumpkin base together and inked the edges with a brown pad.
  • Then we assembled each character and affixed them to the pumpkin with 3D Zots (pop dots).
  • We drew very lightly with a pink colored pencil on each character's cheeks.
  • We punched two holes in the top of the pumpkin with a regular hole puncher and tied on 18" of two pretty ribbons.

Paper Suggestions

We used all AC Cardstock for the solid colors, except for the skin tones which was Bazzil cardstock that we picked up in the single-sheets rack section at Michaels.  The dark orange patterned paper on the pumpkin is from DCWV Indian Summer stack.
